Experience the Magic of Autumn in the Granite Belt

Queenslanders, have we got some special sights for you!  In Autumn something remarkable happens in this unique part of the Sunshine State, the colours of the trees begin to change, leaves turn into brilliant hues of red and orange and  fall to the ground making spectacular scarlet carpets of foliage at every turn. The temperature drops to below 10 degrees at night, enticing our visitors to get cosy by the log fire in their country cottage. During the day, the mercury is a pleasant 20 degrees, perfect for exploring our dramatically different landscape.

Your time could easily be filled with adventures throughout the region, perhaps its apple picking or cider tasting. Of course, local produce is at its peak now and seductive seasonal menus at local restaurants lure lucky diners to discover new gastronomical delights.  Grape harvest is underway, with many wine makers hand pressing their precious varietals. Take your tastebuds on an adventure and sample some of our “Strange Bird” wines.  Who knows, you might discover a tantalising tipple that will be the talking point at your next dinner party or something you can squirrel away and savour in a special moment as it is too good to share with anyone else.

On the cooler days, the spectacular granite landscape beckons to be explored, and with four National Parks on our doorstep there is no shortage of trekking trails to suit every type of traveller.

Not to be missed in Autumn are events such as Elevated Taste – Grazing the Granite Belt, Ballandean Estate’s Opera in the Vineyard, Art in the Mil, the Three Saint’s Festival and more. Have a look at our events calendar for detailed information.
