She'll be Apples

Attention!! The Granite Belt is open for business during the week and ready to provide travellers with the most incredible array of experiences, if you can spare the time. Those who can escape the grind during the week will be rewarded with close to VIP status as they travel through the region. With less visitors to share the cellar doors with, our guests are treated like royalty as they savour the gifts of the Granite Belt.

For the coming months, I will be visiting local attractions that are open daily and promise to give our guests the “red carpet” treatment if they visit during the week (excluding the school holidays of course).  So, to get the ball rolling I’m starting with an all-time favourite – Suttons Apple and Cider.  If you haven’t been here, you are missing out!!

Oh my goodness. This place is so deceiving! Driving past the Big Apple in Applethorpe you can be forgiven for not passing a glance at the inconspicuous shed located on the opposite side of the road that houses Suttons Apples and Cider.   But boy, would you be missing out! If I polled our guests for the must “surprising” find of their holiday it would have to be “Suttons”. This humble shed is full of such country goodness you won’t want to leave. Dave and Ros Sutton are remarkable people who have reinvented  the apple pie and turned it into an institution. One mouthful and you’ll find yourself waxing lyrical about this simple treat and it’s not just apple pies either. Tantalising juices and cider line the shelves seductively – oh, I just can’t describe to you how tasty these juices are you will just have to try them for yourself! To top it all off, if you are here in Apple season, you can pick your own apples from the orchard.  What a great experience, coupled with wonderful hospitality – put this on your must do list. Have a sneak peak at our clip of Leesa at Suttonsn showing us their wares - it's not just another apple shop. I find it difficult to leave Suttons without wanting to hug all of the staff, they are such remarkably generous folk. Thank you Suttons - we will be back!!!
