There are four National Parks you can explore in the Granite Belt, all within 40 minutes drive of your cottage. Each has something different to offer, from awe-inspring granite formations of Girraween and Bald Rock, to spectacular views of Sundown and Boonoo Boonoo.

The changing seasons in Stanthorpe are celebrated with festivals and events like the famous Apple and Grape Harvest Festival (conducted on every even numbered year), the Spring Wine Festival and the Brass Monkey Season™.

You will love Stanthorpe's wonderful, crisp winter mornings, and sun-filled days. The warm log fires at night, complimented with a glass of Granite Belt port are a special treat that you won't be able to resist.

You can take a tour through more than 20 wineries in the area, or join one of the many tour operators for a more personalised experience as you sample a delicious smorgasbord of local produce or indulge your senses in rustic art galleries and lavender fields.

The unique quality of the wines can be attributed to the altitude which compensates for the area's northerly location, giving a temperature range similar to Victoria. This has allowed winemakers to produce very individual styles of wine which have achieved recognition overseas and in Australia.

Budding wine-tasters shouldn't miss the Australian Small Winemakers Show held every October. Here you'll have the chance to sample around 500 wines from wineries located all over Australia.

Whatever you wine of choice, you're sure to find a bottle to suit your palate. The Granite Belt produces a large variety of wines from dry to sweet, red and white, fortified and sparkling. Wineries are open for tastings and cellar door sales.
