The Johnny Cash Country Festival

  • Stanthorpe Showgrounds (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Johnny Cash Country Festival returns to the Stanthorpe Showgrounds. Featuring Leaving Jackson, Brad Butcher, Brooke McMullen, Twilight On The Trail, Jen Mize, and Mark Sholtez.

Tickets can be purchased from www.johnnycashcountry.com.au

Johnny, with his wife June Carter, herself a renowned singer with the famous Carter Family, first visited Stanthorpe in the early 1980s, and visited regularly thereafter for two decades. They came to visit an  old friend from America, who had moved to Australia for family reasons.

Johnny took an instant liking to our little town and its surrounding districts of apple and stone fruit orchards, vineyards, and a wide and empty country side where he enjoyed riding, hunting and overall…the anonymity.

So Stanthorpe can legitimately lay claim to be the only place in the world, outside America, which can call itself ‘Johnny Cash Country’.
